You mention cluster, and this can be a confusing term. There is a product called MySQL Cluster, which is not the same as MySQL. MySQL Cluster is a shared-nothing architecture for highly scalable databases used mainly by telcos and other large organisations who need that level of transaction support. For most uses, MySQL and/or MariaDB can be set up as highly available, with failover nodes - which is what many people understand as "clustering".
