Ralf Wahlsten
Chairman

Ralf was an investor in MySQL from the year 2000 and followed the journey closely. Ralf worked as a management consultant with Indevo AB, At Kearney Inc. and Booz Allen Hamilton. Ralf founded Sirius Consulting Oy, a consulting company that also invests in start-ups. In 2009, the investment work became a full-time occupation when Ralf co-founded Open Ocean Capital.

A native of Finland, Ralf received his MSc from Helsinki University of Technology 1987.

Ulf Sandberg
CEO

Ulf is a 25-year veteran of high pressure Silicon Valley start-ups with already impressive exit events behind him. He played a critical role during his 5 years as Vice President and Senior Vice President of Global Services at MySQL in helping it grow from start-up to successful $1B acquisition by Sun Microsystems. Before joining MySQL, Sandberg was Vice President of professional services at Finaplex, an enterprise software company in the global financial services market. Prior to that he was Vice President, field services at Marimba which went through a high profile IPO in 1999 before being acquired by BMC. Earlier in his career, Sandberg held a number of engineering management positions in U.S. and European companies. He received his MSEE from Lunds Institute of Technology, Sweden and resides in Silicon Valley, California.

Patrik Backman

Patrik is a Managing Partner at Open Ocean Capital Oy, where he has been involved in supporting several start-ups through growth and success. Before joining Open Ocean, Patrik spent 6 years at MySQL AB, where he held various management positions. He was a member of the MySQL’s management team and managed the integration of the MySQL engineering team into Sun in 2008. Prior to joining MySQL AB, Patrik was active in management consulting in business and IT.

Bob Suh

Bob is the founder, chairman, and chief executive officer of OnCorps, as well as a director of Open Logic. He is the retired chief technology strategist for Accenture. In this role, he served as the chief strategist for the firm’s $11 billion global software, systems integration, and technology consulting business. Prior to Accenture, Bob was a division president at Perot Systems (now Dell Services), reporting to Ross Perot, and helped take the company public.

Bob is an Overseer at the Boston Museum of Science and a member of the Dean’s Alumni Council at The Harvard Kennedy School. Bob was named one of the Top 25 consultants in 2005 and holds a master in public administration degree, with a concentration in political economy, from Harvard University. Bob also received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Southern California. Bob lives in Boston.
