The Queen of Evil is back … and she wants your MySQL database skills!

She hired the 400+ original MySQLers … and sets out to hire the SkySQLers of tomorrow!

Boel Larsen blogs about open positions & life at SkySQL - and wants you to join the fun!

Those of you who know me also know that I spent over six years working for MySQL HR (for another couple of years I stayed on with Sun).  I joined as employee thirty-something, so running HR meant that I was more or less involved with hiring all of the 400 or so employees who joined after me. I knew pretty much everyone by name.

At SkySQL I’m employee number 5, and I look forward to recruiting at least 400 people here as well.

This, of course, leads me to the question: did you notice that SkySQL is hiring?

If you didn’t … check out: http://www.skysql.com/company/careers

We started out a little over two years ago, and we certainly hit the ground running. This means that we need more people to develop, support and sell our products, and we’d love for you to join us.

So who are we and what are we like?

At SkySQL we get things done and work hard for that to happen. We are passionate about what we do and willing to stand up for it. We take pride in the work we do and the products and services we provide for our customers. We keep processes and bureaucracy at a minimum and focus on getting the job done.

Most of us have our roots in the Open Source community, which means that we question things, argue over things but ultimately stand by decisions once they are made. We work from home, rarely seeing our co-workers, but stay in touch through any and all technical means there are (email, Skype, IRC, phone, you name it). We care about each other and are happy to call those we work with our friends. When we do meet we greet one another as long lost friends.

Who are we looking for then?

Of course we’d like to hire people who share our values and who will enjoy our distributed way of working. If you thrive in a large corporate environment or love commuting to the office you may not be cut out to work for us. You’ll note when taking a closer look at our ads that we look for those who are true experts in their fields – with a team working from home and literally distributed across the world it’s difficult to bring in interns or to offer entry-level jobs.

What do we offer?

First of all you get the opportunity to work with cool new products and smart, dedicated people. Since we don’t work from offices many – but not all - of our positions are open to candidates regardless of location, so you can forget all about relocating or commuting. We pay competitive salaries; offer 25 days’ paid vacation (local public holidays are paid days off as well) and an employee stock option plan. We have meetings to work as well as have fun together, including an annual all-hands meeting.

Interested?

Please send your application to careers@skysql.com. We look forward to hearing from you!
